About the Old Soul Cowgirl

I grew up riding horses since my dad trained horses, professionally. In high school, I gave riding lessons and helped my parents with a boarding and training barn. We had 30 horses on a 15 acre farm at one point, although that was quite a bit smaller than the farm my father managed when I was just a toddler (that was over 75 horses).

I earned my APHA Youth Championship in High School and competed on the Field Team in college. I've ridden most breeds of horses, both gaited and non-gaited, but I prefer Paints and Quarter horses.

I ride Western and Hunt Seat, and I've shown in most disciplines, as well as fox hunted and trail ridden from the Appalachian Mountains to the grasslands of Texas. While I prefer the forward movement of Hunt Seat, I do enjoy relaxing at a nice lope.

I try to focus on a horse's strengths while improving their weaknesses. I purchased Huckleberry by auction in June 2023, and it's been quite an adventure as we figure each other out.
